29th March 2021 - Update

The latest version of our Risk Assessment can be view online here

Following updated advice from the UK Government and guidance from the LTA, the following changes come into effect from Monday 29th March 2021:

Informal Social Play

For informal social play group size is limited to a maximum of six people by law. This means you can play tennis providing people only meet up with no more than five other people from different households and observe social distancing rules.

Organised Activity

The Government has confirmed that organised activity for larger groups, including coached sessions, club nights, and competitions is permitted as an exception to the limit of six, provided the activity is in accordance with the Covid-19 secure guidelines published by the LTA for venues, coaches, players, and competitions. The Government has made it clear that organised larger group tennis activity is only permitted where this is the case.

Any organised larger group tennis activity is only permitted subject to a thorough risk assessment and event delivery plan, taking into consideration the relevant LTA and Government guidance, and where clear and appropriate risk mitigation measures are in place.

At Ripley and Alfreton Tennis Club larger group tennis activity relates to the following sessions:

  • Monday afternoon "over 50's"
  • Monday evening Junior and Adult coaching
  • Monday Ladies Team Practice
  • Monday Mixed 2 Team Practice
  • Tuesday evening Men's 2nd Team practice
  • Wednesday afternoon "over 50's"
  • Wednesday evening "all member" social
  • Thursday Junior coaching
  • Thursday evening 1st team practice
  • Saturday afternoon "all member" social
  • Soon to be arranged internal friendly team matches

Covid-19 Rules and Guidance

Pre-Attendance checks:

Anyone attending the venue should undergo a pre-attendance self-assessment for any of the Covid-19 symptoms using the information on the NHS website before leaving home. No one should leave home to participate in Tennis if they, or someone they live with, has symptoms of Covid-19. Should an individual have demonstrated any symptoms, they must follow NHS and PHE guidance on self-isolation.

Playing Tennis

Singles and Doubles can be played with four people from different households provided that the players stay 2m apart as much as possible. It is advised to agree who will take the shots that come down the middle of the court in advance of the match.

Play on courts will be available from 8am-9.30pm Monday-Sunday

Only members who have registered with the Club on ClubSpark are permitted unsupervised access to the Club. Non members are welcome at coaching sessions and for a trial visit by making contact with the Club prior to visiting.

Please try to leave the courts 5 minutes before the next person is due to arrive.

All players to bring their own equipment.

The nets will be set at the correct height.  Please do not lower the nets after playing. The net tapes have been removed.
